Review: 8th Smart Grid Stakeholder Group Meeting

13.5.2013, Salzburg, Austria

The 8th Smart Grid Stakeholder Meeting - and the first meeting hosted by FINESCE - took place on 13 May 2013 in Salzburg, co-located with the Austrian Smart Grids Week (www.smartgridsweek.at). Chaired by Dr. Kolja Eger, Siemens AG and Ludwig Karg, B.A.U.M. Consult GmbH, the meeting resulted in an active high level discussion.

The Smart Grid Stakeholder Group (SGSG) was founded to team up European Companies involved in the development and the roll-out of Smart Grids.

During the meeting in Salzburg, Dr. Kolja Eger (Siemens AG) presented the results of the FINSENY project that was successfully finished in April. Fiona Williams (Ericsson GmbH) outlined the objectives and plans of FINESCE.

The organisation of the SGSG was discussed including its relationships to other European Smart Grid activities and current smart grid research projects. Michael Hübner (bmvit) explained the preparation of the ERA-net plus call and presented the current ideas of the ISGAN initiative. Dr. Rainer Bacher (Bacher Energie AG) outlined the activities of Grid+ and Ludwig Karg (B.A.U.M. Consult GmbH) presented the results of the DACH cooperation.

All presentations were discussed lively by the audience. All participants had the opportunity to present their own company and their intentions for the SGSG in 99 seconds. This format was recognised as very refreshing and informative.

All participants want to be invited to future events of the SGSG. The approach to combine the meetings with big smart grid events like the "Smart Grids Week” was welcomed.
