Review: Joint WWRF / SmartGridComm workshop

21.10.2013, Vancouver, Canada

FINESCE was represented at the IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications in a joint WWRF/SmartGridComm workshop on Wireless Communications in the Smart Grid by the FINESCE project coordinator Dr. Fiona Williams (Ericsson).

The workshop discussed the roles of wireless communication in the smart grid future as well as the use of the smart grid to power future wireless systems and was chaired by Prof. Demestichas.

Apart from FINESCE, five additional speakers from different research and industry communities attended to address issues like smart grid trials, standardization, consumer behaviour, etc..

The FINESCE project was presented in a nutshell with a special focus on the FI-PPP phase II usage areas, the key features of our seven trial sites and the audience was offered an outlook on the main challenges in realising sustainable real time smart energy services.
